Happy Birthday To you!
On January 25th we celebrated our December and January Birthdays! The Manning brothers did another fantastic job with their brand of amazing nostalgic and toe tapping music. Join us monthly on the last Monday of the month at 2:00 in the Saint Lawrence Lounge for our Birthday celebration for all of those born in that month. Come on down and help us celebrate! Family and friends are welcome!
On January 25th we celebrated the Birthday of Scotland’s Famous Poet ” Robbie Burns”. The kitchen cooked up a wonderful special menu and Collin and John came in to transport us to years gone by. To kick it all off, Collin, John and Sharron were part of the ceremonial “Haggis” procession featuring a familiar Scottish tune on the bagpipes! Next, John recited “The Ode to Haggis”, his rendition was absolutely fabulous complete with an authentic Scottish accent. A whisky Toast followed the “Ode” and then a wonderful musical finished off the program. Nothing says ” Robbie Burns Dinner ” like haggis, whisky and of course kilts!
On Wednesday January 20th, we enjoyed a wonderful afternoon concert with one of our favourite Choirs ” Sentimental Journey”. They transported us to years gone by with some beautiful old favourites! After their concert they also host a time of sing-a-long and of course this moment would not be complete without some Dancing too! Thanks again to Sue, Marilyn and all of the ladies in the group! Another wonderful success!
Activity Professional’s Week
January 17-23 was National Activity Professional’s Week! We had some terrific “Activity Themed” events. Tuesday January 19th a we hosted an “Activity Themed Bingo” and on Thursday January 21st we hosted an “Activity Themed” scavenger hunt with teams in the Waterside Lounge. We topped off the week with an “Activity-Tea” with our special guest ” Mentalist” Jonah Babins. He was amazing and kept us all wondering ” How did he do that?”
We had a wonderful time celebrating ” The King”. January 7th would have been the 81st birthday for Elvis! The day was commemorated with our own home grown version. Mari, a.k.a “Melvis”, our program coordinator took on the sideburns and outfit to honor the memory of a legend. Even Karen and Fred took time out of their decorating to strike a pose! ” Thank You, Thank You Very Much!”
