Easter Fun!

We enjoyed a wonderful Easter weekend here at the Waterford!  We enjoyed a lovely “Easter Tea” amongst the beautiful decorations. Congratulations to Betty Lachapelle and Beatrice Groves as they were the ladies who’s dedication paid off as they hunted for the numbered Easter eggs that were hidden all around the building. Betty had almost over 30,000 points and Beatrice came second place with almost 20,000 points. Also congratulations to our “Easter Bonnet” parade winners; Jane Youngssen, Glad Kay and Jean Lanos all won prizes for their lovely creations.  Thank you to Tony Frazao for the beautiful music at our tea and kudos to Dusty and Doreen Rhodes for all of their hard work at the Plant sale as well!

St. Patrick’s Day

We enjoyed some GREEEN fun here for St. Patrick’s Day!  The McLaren family band was in excellent form as they brought us some fabulous music. Thank you to those who really got into the spirit and wore green! Congratulations to Paul Goodyear as he was the winner of the ” Lost Leprechaun Hunt”.

Look for us in The Kingston Whig Standard

Starting this Saturday, watch for our new ads in the Lifestyle and Puzzles section of The Kingston Whig Standard.  Here’s a sneak peak before it hits the printing press.

“A Sweetheart of a Day”

Valentine’s Day was loads of fun here at The Waterford Kingston!  We had some mini makeovers in our craft room.  Mari was on makeup, our hairdressers Lee and Donna were on hair and Donna’s daughter Faith helped with all of the above!  Then we had a lovely “Valentine’s Photo Booth” with a local professional photographer, and the day was topped off with a beautiful Gourmet Dinner with Dinner Music by the lovely Gwen Chajkowski!  At the dinner we awarded our winners of the Hunt for Hearts contest. Congratulations to Ron Burgham, Betty Lachapelle and Paul Goodyear!  Way to go!

Country Kitchen Cooking

We have a beautiful Country Kitchen ( Craft Room)  located on our lower level here at the Waterford. This is a wonderful venue and we like to use it monthly whenever possible to feature a lunch or a dinner. Special guest cooks (often staff) will volunteer to cook up a wonderful meal and residents are encouraged to sign up to help prepare and serve a lovely meal in our cozy kitchen. This program is always very well attended, hosting between 15 – 25 guests. Theses meals are very popular and residents are encouraged to sign up early to ensure a spot. In February we enjoyed our ” Shrove Tuesday Lunch” cooked by Mari, with the help of several residents. In February we also featured an Italian dinner with our very own Tracy and Anne- Marie as our chefs and hostesses! Our March meal will be held on March 8th. The menu will consist of Mari’s famous European style open faced sandwiches as well as her warm German potato salad!  please see the sign up sheet — there are still some spots left!

“The Little Dutch Girl!”

Our end of the month gourmet dinners are always a great hit! The last Friday of the month ( excluding summer months June, July and August), we feature a dinner inspired by a destination. In January we hosted ” A Taste of the Netherlands” with Mari, our Program Coordinator, dressed up as a Dutch Girl!  In February we hosted ” A Taste of Italy” with a night at the Opera to follow in our theatre. For our March Gourmet, we are going to feature a special Easter Gourmet on good Friday! Guests are welcome to attend but seats go very quickly — so be sure to book with reception well in advance!
