Lest We Forget

Remembrance Day is a day to remember all of the sacrifices made by men and women who have served our country. We gather to honor and remember.  On Saturday November 11th at 10:00 am, we hosted our annual Waterford Remembrance Day ceremony. Over 125 residents, family members, community members and staff gathered together for a very touching and meaningful service. Thank you to all of the residents who participated in the service and also a big thank you to Gwen Chaijkoski for sharing her amazing talent on the piano, and Father Blair Peever, who makes our Service a priority every year and looks forward to being a part of this tradition.  There was a true reverence in the atmosphere and not many dry eyes around as we took the time to honor and remember. Thank you to all of our Veterans, for your sacrifice, thank you for our freedom.   Later that evening we also had another Waterford Tradition upheld, The Cadets have adopted The Waterford as part of their Remembrance Day.  A Team of Cadets arrived in their uniforms to serve our residents in their dining rooms during their dinner service.  The resident always look  forward to their visit. Thank you to the Parkinson family for making this a possibility each year.

Trip To Picton’s Newest Brewery!

We took a lovely fall colors bus trip to “The County” to visit one of Picton’s Newest Micro Breweries!  The Prince Eddy’s Brewery was a wonderful destination!  Aaron and his team, we most accommodating and very educational.  We enjoyed a ploughman’s lunch and beer tasting in their lovely lobby area and after lunch we had a private tour by the Brew Master and his Assistant.  The beer was very tasty and we all received a true ” Beer-ducation”.  Thank you so much Prince Eddy’s for such a memorable day!  During the question and answer period, after the tour, the funniest question to the brew master was ” If you drink beer all day as you are needing to sample to ensure that the product is where it should be at, then how is it that you don’t have a Beer Belly?”
