The Birches Enhanced Care Neighborhood has been designed to offer support and assistance to our residents who may require help with some of their day to day activities such as bathing, dressing and personal grooming. Bright and comfortable, The Birches neighborhood is a smaller and more home-like environment located on Level 2 at The Waterford Ottawa.
Features of The Birches include: a living room lounge, private dining room, exercise and activity area as well as a spa with hydro-therapeutic tub, and access to the 4-seasons atrium and gardens.
The Birches is staffed by health care professionals at all times. Assistance with activities of daily living are provided by health care staff ensuring that our residents may ‘age in place’. An in-depth assessment by the resident’s physician and our nursing staff will determine the service plan best suited to the resident’s needs. Recurring assessments and scheduled care conferences keep the service plan specific to the changing needs of the resident.
A full assessment is completed for each resident to ensure that we can meet their individual needs. Residents must be ambulatory, weight bearing and able to move about the neighborhood with minimal assistance.
We value the dignity of all Waterford residents, and put an emphasis on self-care, with instruction, support, or assistance provided as needed.
